Just today, I was walking in the hall of the HS train station in The Hague, when I heard a melody from the station's speakers. It was the score of the movie Hana-bi, from Takeshi Kitano:




Well, what are the chances that you hear the touching melody of a striking Japanese movie, that you watched only a week ago, in a train station?? :)

Jazz Semai

In 1978, Erol Pekcan, Tuna Ötenel and Kudret Öztoprak ‎came up with a very dynamic, subtle, and sometimes melancholic set of songs, compiled in an album calld "Jazz Semai".


Semai is a type of folkloric singing associated to Anatolia. It therefore gives a hint of the local Turkish influences in the western standards of the album.
